Team Building Training Session at Paharpur Business Centre | Training ! Corporate Training

The fast pace of globalization and growing business demand now requires every organization to carry out special training modules for their employees. The improved employees’ skills also improve the organization’s growth rate.

A successful company always relies and lays special emphasis on their employees’ skills development and training programs. These trainings not only improve the growth of the organization but also the earning capabilities of the employees. Some of the advantages of training are -
1. Boost in performance
2. Disciplined work.
3. Able to handle external competitiveness
4. Adaptability to changing business needs
5. Team building
6. Technical and functional demands among others.

There are companies, which conduct regular training and knowledge sharing sessions for their employees. According to Mr. Govind Singh Negi, Head of the Human Resource at Paharpur Business Centre, – “Training sessions help keep the employees updated on the latest trends, this is a key to an individual’s growth but helps in the growth of an organization as well. So, to hone the capabilities and skills of the Paharpur Business center employees, regular training sessions are held on each Saturday.

Last Saturday, on 7th March’12, an interactive training session on “Team Building” was organized. The session was carried forward with an age-old fable of Hare and Tortoise and then ended with a fun balloon game. The idea behind this way of training was to give a practical approach of understanding the ways and the advantages of ‘Team Building’ and how it is relevant in today’s work culture.”

You all might have heard about the age-old fable of Hare and Tortoise, and also the moral of the story, which was “slow and steady wins the race”, but in today’s fast moving world the story does not ends with the victory of the Tortoise, it continues again with another race.

In the second story- the disappointed Hare did some soul searching on why he lost. He realized that he lost only because he had been over-confident, careless and lax. The Hare then challenged the Tortoise for another race to which he agreed. This time the Hare went all out and ran without stopping from start to finish and won by several miles. So, now the new moral of this story is “fast and consistent will always beat the slow and steady”.

The story then again moves ahead with another race: The Tortoise did some thinking on how he can win the Hare again. The Tortoise then challenged the hare for another race but with a different route decided by him and the Hare agreed. They started off and the Hare was fast enough and consistent until he came to a broad river. The finishing line was a couple of kilometers on the other side of the river. The Hare sat there wondering how to cross the river. In the meantime the Tortoise came walking, swam across the river, continued walking and finished the race. The moral of this story is “first identify your core competency and then change the playing field to suit your core competency.”

And don’t think that story ends here. There is still more to go. In the next race both of them decided to run as a team as they thought that they could do much better if they help each other.

They started off, and the Hare carried the Tortoise till the riverbank. There the Tortoise took over and swam across with the hare on his back. On the opposite bank the Hare again carried the Tortoise on his back and reached the finishing line together. They both felt a great sense of satisfaction. The moral of the story is “it’s good to be individually brilliant and to have strong core competencies; but unless you’re able to work in a team and harness each other’s core competencies, you’ll always perform well below par because their will always be situations at which you’ll do poorly and someone else does well.

The final gist is “Let us build a strong team. One will surely succeed!”.
